The Charmer

In “The Charmer”  Allister draws inspiration from embracing change.  To be the first hot glass studio to convert to all electric took courage. The snake represents those fears he faced at the time, whilst the piece celebrates that moment when a fear is conquered.

Inspired by ancient stone figures Allister has set out to emulate the chiselled effects in glass. Sculpted in his all electric glass studio the figures are slowly cooled before the surface details are carved with diamond tools. These carved figures are then later taken to a high temperature to be manipulated and polished by fire. At this point the snake is draped around the figure’s neck.
