Toasty Tuesday For A Cosy Community

To help keep a “Cosy Community” we are opening our studio this winter as a warm space. Free Entry (limited numbers)

A very warm welcome awaits local primary school aged children and their parents/carers to our hot glass studio at Stourbridge Glass Museum. Be amongst the favoured few to witness the day to day drama of running a glass studio. Children and adults will be captivated as they see glass magically becoming molten as Allister and his team fill the furnace with their recycled glass mixture. This is a rare chance to see this experience at close quarters. Children can engage in fun, creative activities based around the theme of glass and local history whilst parents/ carers relax in the warm and friendly environment.

Starting on Tuesday January 24th and running Tuesdays during February and March we invite 20 people through our doors after school 3.00- 5.00pm. Please book to reserve your slot and avoid disappointment.

Hot and cold refreshments will be available in our super warm studio and even a slice of toast!

Usually filling the furnace is carried out behind closed doors. We provide a fully immersive experience as the audience witness the filling of the furnace at a temperature of 1150 ºC.

Stourbridge Glass Museum itself is closed at this point due to its reduced winter opening hours. To gain entry you will need to follow the building around to the left to find the entry to the glass studio in a courtyard. To find our entrance on What 3 words take a look at the link

This project is funded by Creative Black Country, as part of Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places scheme.
